Introducing the "Dining Through The Decades" experience
Imagine stepping into a time machine that transports you through the flavours of bygone eras. That's exactly what Number Sixteen hotel in South Kensington offers with its new supper club series, "Dining Through The Decades."
Picture yourself in the hotel's enchanting Orangery, surrounded by a lush private garden. Here, you'll embark on a culinary adventure guided by the charismatic Food Historian and Author, Eleanor Barnett, alongside the talented Executive Chef Joe Fox.
Each evening promises an unforgettable four-course meal that brings history to life on your plate. From the refined tastes of Victorian England to the resourceful recipes of the 1940s and the playful dishes of the groovy 70s, every bite tells a story.
Our journey begins on Thursday, 19th September, with a Victorian extravaganza. As you indulge in delicacies like smoked eel with soda bread and fillet of turbot with coastal greens, Eleanor will whisk you away to an era of class divides and imperial influences that shaped the food on your fork.
Fast forward to Thursday, 14th November, and you're in the midst of 1940s ingenuity. Savor comforting creations born from wartime necessity, reimagined with Chef Joe's modern flair. Think Mock fish cakes and Woolton pie, capped off with a twist on the classic bread and butter pudding.
Our time machine makes its final stop on Thursday, 20th March, landing squarely in the technicolor 1970s. Prepare your taste buds for a nostalgic ride featuring Devilled eggs, Classic prawn cocktail, and whimsical desserts that will transport you straight to your childhood.
At just £85 per person, each event includes a welcome drink with canapés, the four-course feast, and two glasses of perfectly paired wine. It's more than just a meal—it's a delicious dive into history, sprinkled with fascinating facts and a dash of humor.
