Yoga, pilates, and personal training sessions are available, along with a variety of massages and ayurvedic treatments. The sumptuous Hammam Ritual experience, which includes hot steam, deep washing, and massage with scented soap, is a must.

The spa also has a long, lean saltwater pool with a stunning roof. The hotel has established its own tiny sandy beach area with direct access to the sea. There are complimentary bikes and snorkelling equipment available, as well as other options for nearby land and marine adventures.

The spacious grounds have 26 tastefully decorated apartments and two rooms, the most of which are old military structures. Each offers a beautiful canopied day bed and individual terraces with wonderful views of the sea and the surrounding forestland.

Six suites, the Sentinels and Suite del Mar, have private plunge pools. Comfortable couches and armchairs in neutral tones contrast with arched ceilings, soft linens, vintage maritime monochrome artwork, and stone floors. Four-poster beds are available in several suites.

Aside from the television, music system, coffee machine, and minibar, cotton robes and slippers are given, as well as an exercise mat, straw hat, and beach basket. Bathrooms have double basins, freestanding tubs with a calming salt option, walk-in rain showers, and amenities housed in lovely glass jars. Scented candles, room scent, and flowers are excellent additions.

Chef Victor García runs two restaurants within the hotel: La Fortaleza, located in the main structure, and The water Club, an outdoor dining option near the water. The latter provides freshly prepared food grilled on a typical Majorcan wood barbecue for lunch and dinner.

For evening, La Fortaleza serves Mediterranean cuisine made with organic, locally sourced ingredients. Two superbly prepared tasting menus are available: a Majorcan choice at €80 (£70) and a seven-course feast at €90 (£80), or you can choose three dishes.

Baby sweet peas with bacon and egg yolk were delicious beginnings; Denton fish with finely sliced spring onions and Romescu sauce was the main dish; and Majorcan rubiol pastries were dessert. An amazing assortment of wines is available, including C'an Xicatlà, a limited-production, delicious local white wine.

A basket of breakfast delights is delivered to each guest by golf buggy at a convenient hour. Guests can eat on one of their own patios with sea views or in their comfortable rooms. A wide variety of egg and cooked meals are provided, as well as fruit, pastries, yoghurts, cold meats, and cheeses. Leaf tea is available in teapots, and coffee of your choice is offered. There's also a'surprise menu' for the daring.

Pleta de Mar

Pleta de Mar is located in the north-east of Majorca, about 1.2 miles from the quiet beach hamlet of Canyamel and the Caves of Artà. The villages of Capdepera, with its Mediaeval castle, and Árta, known for its galleries and boutiques, are 15 minutes by vehicle. Torre de Canyamel, a 13th-century watchtower with a famous restaurant and museum, is about a 10-minute walk along a rural road.

There are four golf courses within a five-mile radius: Pula, Canyamel, Capdepera, and Son Servera. In addition to Canyamel's own beaches, the thriving resort of Cala Ratjada is only a 20-minute drive away. The airport is around an hour's drive.

Antoni Esteva, a prominent local architect, has smoothly incorporated the single-story rooms into what was originally coastal farmland. The woodland estate, complete with meandering sandy roads, manicured lawns and relaxation places, complements the main restaurant and reception building's peaceful atmosphere and subtle décor.

Natural stone, marble, innovative glass walls, and vaulted bamboo-lined ceilings merge with cream furniture and spectacular art pieces to create a warm and bright atmosphere. The attractive community spaces are furnished with comfortable armchairs and modern paintings, as well as the distinctively rustic and flamboyant sculptures of renowned local artist Joan Bennassar.

General manager Javier Santos and his colleagues provide warm yet discreet service, and the hotel's relaxed ambiance invites visitors to unwind. In addition to two big saltwater infinity pools and an outdoor gym, there is a modest health facility with a sauna, steam room, sensory showers, and an outdoor heated pool. Spa treatments are available, as well as yoga and pilates courses.

The sheltering Albardans beach is just a short walk away. Tennis courts and kayaks may be hired locally, and the hotel even has its own speedboat. There is a big parking lot, gratis bikes, and charging stations for electric vehicles.

There are 30 big, tastefully decorated apartments scattered across the grounds, each with a separate patio. Hot tubs, wider patios, and sea views are all available in premium and luxury suites.

The rooms receive lots of sunlight, and the curtains and lights are controlled by an electronic smartphone. Designer elements abound, from handcrafted plaited rope headboards to pebble-shaped wall lighting and bathroom mirrors. By night, the Menu Marc costs €85 (£72), with wine pairings costing €48 (£41). Expect dishes such Norway lobster with white garlic ice cream and creamy Bombeta rice with smoked eel and mango. Desserts include green apple cannelloni, white chocolate foam, and goat yoghurt ice cream.

A half-board meal for €55 (£47) is also available at the hotel owner's neighbouring La Porxada restaurant and Café Arenal seaside fish restaurant. The bamboo-lined outdoor bar serves drinks and digestifs until sunset, in addition to an exceptional variety of local and foreign wines.

Fruit, yoghurt, cereal, handmade jams, and a range of pastries and breads are all available on the breakfast buffet. Finca Serena

The hotel is a few kilometres from the rural communities of Montuïri and Algaida. This unspoiled and original section of Mallorca combines luscious orchards and undulating hills with charming little villages, historic windmills, and Bronze Age ruins.

Son Fornés' Talaotic museum is only a five-minute drive away, and Algaida's three monasteries, including the Sanctuary of Cura, are within ten minutes. Puntiró and Son Gual golf courses are about a 15-minute drive away. The airport is about 15 miles from the hotel.

This is the type of spot that instantly relaxes the shoulders and slows the breath. This beautiful home, with slate grey shutters, dominates a small cobblestone courtyard overlooking the idyllic surroundings.

Various outhouses have been skillfully converted into bedrooms, and the main structure has been given a subtle contemporary touch, preserving the ancient magnificence while instilling a feeling of modernity with comfortable furnishings and a relaxing ambiance.
