Bahrain Grand Prix: Tickets, Hospitality & Travel Guide
The 2027 Bahrain Grand Prix runs 12 to 14 March at Sakhir as a Sprint weekend under floodlights. Here is the confirmed schedule, the best grandstands, hospitality options and how to plan your stay in Manama.

The Bahrain Grand Prix returns to the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir on 12 to 14 March 2027, and for the first time in years it arrives as a Sprint weekend. That changes how you should plan. Friday is no longer a gentle warm-up day: Practice 1 and Sprint Qualifying both run on Friday 12 March, the Sprint and Grand Prix Qualifying share Saturday 13 March, and the Grand Prix itself runs on Sunday 14 March under floodlights.
This guide covers everything that matters for a well-planned trip: the confirmed 2027 schedule, where to sit, how hospitality compares, where to stay in Manama or near the circuit, and how to get to Sakhir without losing hours in traffic.

The 2027 race weekend schedule
Formula 1 has confirmed the running order but not yet the exact start times. Based on the circuit’s established night-race pattern, expect the headline sessions to run in the evening, local time (GMT+3).
Friday 12 March: Practice 1 and Sprint Qualifying
Saturday 13 March: Sprint and Qualifying
Sunday 14 March: Bahrain Grand Prix
Because only one practice session runs, Friday carries competitive stakes. If you are flying in, aim to land on Wednesday or early Thursday so that you are settled before Sprint Qualifying rather than arriving tired for the first meaningful session.
Why Bahrain is worth the trip
Ground was broken at Sakhir in December 2002, and Hermann Tilke designed the track on an open stretch of desert. The result is a circuit built around overtaking: long straights feed into heavy braking zones at Turns 1, 4 and 11, and the cooling evening air makes tyre management a real story every year.
For spectators, the appeal is focus. Bahrain is compact, the facilities are purpose-built, and the floodlit race gives the weekend a distinct atmosphere. Away from the track, the kingdom’s 33 islands offer beach resorts, a lively Manama dining scene and the Bahrain International Karting Circuit right beside the Grand Prix track if you want to drive yourself.
Best grandstands at the Bahrain International Circuit
Seating choices here are more limited than at older European venues, so it pays to know what each area offers before you buy.
Main Grandstand
The Main Grandstand faces the start and finish straight and the pit lane. It is the right choice if you want the grid build-up, pit stops, the podium and the national ceremonies. Expect the highest prices outside hospitality.
Turn 1 Grandstand
Sitting on the outside of Turns 1 and 2, this stand delivers the classic Bahrain overtake: cars arriving at full speed off the main straight and braking hard into a tight right-hander. The opening lap here is often the best moment of the weekend.
Batelco Grandstand
Formula 1’s own circuit guide singles this out as the best place to watch. It covers cars charging into Turn 8, through the fast Turns 9 and 10 and down to the short-apex Turn 11. Turn 10, a tight, downhill and off-camber left-hander, is the trickiest corner on the lap and a frequent spot for lock-ups.
Whichever stand you choose, check that it has a clear view of a big screen. Evening sessions are cooler, but afternoon support races can be hot, so ask whether your seat is covered.
Hospitality options compared
Official Formula 1 hospitality runs from the Paddock Club, positioned above the pit garages with access to pit lane walks, down to more relaxed lounges with grandstand seating. Before you commit, confirm three things in writing: whether a reserved outdoor seat is included, which days the package covers, and whether transfers from Manama are part of the price. Not every product includes all three.
Where to stay for the Bahrain Grand Prix
Most visitors stay in Manama, where the hotel choice, restaurants and nightlife are strongest. The trade-off is the transfer: the drive to Sakhir is around 30 to 45 minutes in normal traffic but can take far longer after the race.
Manama and Bahrain Bay: the best all-round base for first-time visitors, with waterfront hotels and easy dining
Seef and Juffair: good value with quick access to the main southbound highways
Sakhir and Awali area: closest to the circuit, with very limited hotel stock that sells out early
Book refundable rooms early. Race-week rates rise sharply once the session timetable is published.
Getting to the circuit
There is no rail link to Sakhir, so plan on road transport. Official shuttle buses usually run from points in Manama on race days, and many hotels arrange their own transfers. If you take a taxi or ride-hailing car, agree a pickup point for the journey back, as demand peaks immediately after the chequered flag. Leaving 30 to 45 minutes after the podium often saves time overall.
Practical tips for race weekend
Arrive by Thursday: with Sprint Qualifying on Friday, there is no low-stakes day to recover from a late flight.
Pack layers: evenings in March can feel cool in the stands after a warm afternoon.
Bring ear protection, sunglasses and sun cream for daytime support races.
Check the official bag policy and prohibited items list before you travel.
Keep your ticket confirmation and ID together, as entry checks can be strict.
