Canadian Grand Prix: Tickets, Hospitality & Travel Guide
Montréal is one of our favourite editorial choices for a Grand Prix that also works as a city break. The circuit’s island setting is distinctive, while downtown and the old city give you a reason to stay beyond race day.

Montréal is one of our favourite editorial choices for a Grand Prix that also works as a city break. The circuit’s island setting is distinctive, while downtown and the old city give you a reason to stay beyond race day. Our preference is a well-connected city hotel and a carefully planned journey to Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, rather than an itinerary built around driving as close as possible.
Dates, venue and the latest edition
2027 calendar: 21 - 23 May 2027. Dates can change; confirm the organiser’s latest timetable before booking. Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve is the planning reference for this guide. Session times, support races and entry arrangements should be checked on the official event page. Do not assume last year’s timetable or access rules apply.
Which tickets should you compare?
Compare a hairpin or braking-zone seat with a main-straight position. We would favour a reserved seat for a first visit, especially if following the race is the main objective. General admission can be a worthwhile trade-off for flexibility, but demand a clear account of accessible viewing areas rather than assuming every stretch of fencing has a good sightline.
The hairpin and final chicane suit different priorities. Confirm seat location, screen visibility and any restrictions on bags or folding chairs before choosing general admission.
Where to stay and how to reach the circuit
Downtown and Old Montréal serve different evenings but can both work as city-led bases. Check the public-transport route and the last walk to your gate before choosing. The island location makes the final part of the journey important: leave room for crowds and security, and agree a meeting point if your group may separate.
Compare the total trip cost rather than the room rate alone: transfers, minimum stays, cancellation terms and time spent travelling all matter. Ask the hotel to confirm race-weekend arrival arrangements and keep restaurant reservations flexible until session times are released.
A practical weekend plan
Arrive before the first ticketed day, keep one evening for an unhurried Montréal meal and avoid packing sightseeing between circuit sessions. Spend a separate day in the old city after the race if possible. A late meal or flight should leave room for the island exit queues rather than assume a quick getaway.
Booking safely and requesting a proposal
Use the official organiser or a supplier whose authorisation and delivery terms you can verify. Before paying, request the exact product, currency, taxes, cancellation conditions, delivery method and any names required on tickets. Social-media photos are not proof of the current package.
Ask Velloy about your dates, guests, viewing priorities and hotel requirements. An enquiry is not a confirmed booking. Membership is a separate option if you want to explore help with trips beyond this event; specific rates, access and inclusions must be confirmed before payment.
Frequently asked questions
Is reaching the Montréal metro stop the end of the circuit journey?
No. The island approach, walk to your gate, security and crowd management still take time. Plan the final stretch and return route, not just the station arrival.
Can I book next year using this guide?
Use the guide for planning, but recheck the edition note and official calendar before non-refundable arrangements. Dates and ticket releases are maintained on this same evergreen page.
Do I need membership to enquire?
Contact Velloy to discuss the event and ask which services are available. Request the requirements and fees applicable to your proposal rather than assuming membership includes a ticket.
The planning detail we would not overlook
Treat the walk from the station or drop-off point as part of the travel time, not an afterthought. Carry layers for changes in weather and check the current prohibited-items list. The official 2027 page presently lists Sprint sessions; confirm the local timetable when published instead of using the previous edition’s Friday plan.
